What is Architects’ PI Insurance?
Architects PI insurance protects you from the financial risks you’re exposed to in the line of your work, including being sued for negligence, breach of contract, missed deadlines, or if the cost overruns.
The best PI insurance for architects offers sufficient financial protection for your business in the event a client claims your professional services and/or advice has caused them to suffer loss, injury, or damages.
Your insurance policy should cover the cost of any compensation claims for damages and legal expenses.
Architects’ PI Insurance optional extras
Some of the additional covers we can include with your architects’ PI insurance are*:
Public Liability Insurance
If you visit or meet with clients, either at your work premises, on-site, or at a neutral space, you need public liability insurance. This covers legal costs and any compensation payments if a third party, for example a member of the public or client, claims to have been injured or suffered a loss as a result of your business activity.
Employers Liability Insurance
If you employ anyone else as part of your practice, you’re legally obliged to have employers liability (EL) insurance, unless this person is a family member. Should an employee be injured during their work for you, your employers’ liability insurance will cover compensation and legal costs.
*Limitations and exclusions apply to all these add-ons.
Who needs Architects’ PI Insurance?
All practising architects are expected to have professional indemnity insurance, as per Standard 8 of the Architects Code of Conduct.
